Sofia Vasileva is a 21-year-old law student at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in Bulgaria, dedicated to sustainable development and social impact. She has gained valuable experience through various training programs, seminars, and projects, including internships such as one at the Administration of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, which equipped her with essential skills for driving impactful change. Sofia has been actively involved in student organizations and has received accolades for her mediation efforts, including first place in a student essay competition organized by the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives (BILI) and the Netherlands Embassy in Sofia, as well as recognition from the National Association of Mediators (NAM). Recently, she participated in the ENGAGE.EU Summer School 2024, focusing on “Artificial Intelligence and Societal Challenges,” furthering her commitment to addressing global issues. In recent years, Sofia has engaged in charitable initiatives and public campaigns, collaborating with organizations such as the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) to promote social welfare and inclusion. Moreover, she has been recognized for her contributions to media literacy-related initiatives. Her previous volunteer experience in the pediatric department of a local hospital deepened her understanding of community health services and fueled her commitment to volunteerism, which she continues through her current role with ESN UNWE, where she supports international students. Fluent in Bulgarian (native), English, and Russian, and currently learning Chinese, Sofia is passionate about leveraging her skills within SDSN Youth to drive impactful solutions aligned with the SDGs.
